Thailand transfers 197 Myanmar nationals

Myanmar officials welcomed 197 people – 123 males and 74 females transferred from Thailand via the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge No. 2 in Tachilek Township of Shan State (East) yesterday.
U Myint Naing, chairman of the committee on welcoming and sending migrant workers and local officials helped the returnees with medical tests and other supplies.
Among these returnees, 24 people – 20 males and 4 females have tested positive for COVID-19. The patients were sent to the treatment centres for proper medical treatment.
Another 173 negative patients undergo quarantine at Wang Lone centre and they can return to their respective regions if their second results show negative.
A total of 1,014 migrant workers were transferred by Thailand through the sixth repatriation process beginning 30 July. — Yar Say (IPRD)/GNLM
