Thapyaywa solar power plant in Meiktila District inspected

Union Minister U Thaung Han views round Thapyaywa Solar Power Plant in Thazi Township, Meiktila District on 15 May.?

Union Minister for Electric Power and for Energy U Thaung Han and Deputy Minister Dr Aung Zeya inspected the 30 MW Thapyaywa Solar Power Plant and supply of electricity from the 230 KV Thapyaywa main station yesterday morning in Thapyaywa village, Thazi Township, Meiktila Dirtrict, Mandalay Region.
During the visit, the Union Minister spoke about the need to implement solar plants in the country, to use solar tracking technology, which is used in Thapyaywa Solar Power Plant, in future solar projects.
He also added that plans will be made to implement new solar projects in the vacant lands near the Thapyaywa Solar Plant to meet the state’s electricity demand.
He also instructed officials to pay attention to the uninterrupted power supply and transmission of electricity from the power plant.
Thapyaywa Solar Power Plant is located on 133.44 acres of land near Thapyaywa village, in Mandalay Region. The installed capacity is 30 megawatts and the maximum power is 455 watts.
It generates more than 200,000 kwh as well as an average of 66 million kilowatt hours per year.
The generated electricity is being transmitted to the national grid through a 230 KV Thapyaywa station with a 33 KV double-deck overhead cables in some 4 miles in length.
At the 230 KV Thapyaywa power station, the Union Minister awarded the staff of the substation for the excellence in performance, in accord with the guidelines of the Prime Minister for recognizing and honouring outstanding civil servants.—MNA
