Peace and stability of the region is important for holding a free and fair general election. If not, the free and fair election will not be held or genuine people’s representatives will not be elected, said Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win yesterday morning in a meeting with township administration body members and township-level departmental officials at Shwe Antaung Hall in An of Rakhine State.
First, Township Administration Body Chairman U Htay Aung reported on the progress of An Township, and the Vice-Senior General coordinated necessary measures with officials.
In his speech, the Vice-Senior General said as An Township was upgraded to the district level on 30 April 2022, it can operate the administrative process directly linking with the state level in a rapid manner with no need to pass Kyaukpyu. An Township is a focal point leading to Taungup, Kyaukpyu, Sittway and Minbu. Being an important area, local authorities need to cooperate with residents to avoid inappropriate administrative measures with the nationalistic spirit, political and security essence.
He continued that currently, six ethnic armed organizations have held talks about peace issues with the Prime Minister and the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee separately. It was learnt that more organizations will hold talks. The primary need for peace is to restore perpetual peace and not to cause armed conflicts again.
Further coordination will be held with the aim of restoring the perpetual peace in the peace talks and implementing the framework for building the Union based on democracy and federalism for the entire ethnic people aspire. The demand at the roundtable of peace and at the Hluttaw by people’s representatives is better than the demand based on holding arms. Peace and stability of the region are important for holding a free and fair general election. If not, a free and fair election will not be held as well as genuine people’s representatives will not be elected.
An Township which is home to more than 120,000 people has more than 60,000 acres of net sown acreage where various kinds of crops including paddy are cultivated to have a high yield for meeting the target. If so, surplus crops can be exported. In the livestock sector, crab, shrimp and fish farming works should be done on a commercial scale with advanced technologies. Those farmers need to observe the techniques of similar farms at developed farms.
The Vice-Senior General expressed his satisfaction with the regular attendance of students at the schools, urging officials to encourage students to try hard to raise the pass rate of the matriculation examination.
The Vice-Senior General said global countries including Myanmar are facing high prices of fuel and cooking oil. Hence, it is necessary to save spending the income depending on the high prices of cooking oil. The government is encouraging local growers to cultivate sunflower and oil palm plants for the oil sufficiency of the nation. Taninthayi Region focuses on increased production of palm oil from oil palm fruits. — MNA
