State Administration Council Vice-Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win meets Rakhine State government and departmental officials in Sittway yesterday.

As restrictions of COVID-19 have been eased to some extent, it is necessary to prepare the ancient MraukU city and the Ngapali beach to attract the attention of the travellers, said Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win in meeting with Rakhine State government and departmental officials at the hall of state government in Sittway yesterday.
In his address, the Vice-Senior General said the work process depends on short- and long-term plans. The long-term plans must be implemented in respective sections under the systematic arrangements. The short-term plans must be implemented with might and main to have a quick win. The fishery sector is the livelihood for the people of Rakhine State. Instead of traditional ways, businesspersons need to operate fish, shrimp and soft-shell crab farms with the technical assistance from relevant experts in order to upgrade their businesses, grasp the business opportunities and create job opportunities to contribute to the regional development.
The Vice-Senior General also urged businesspersons to make preparations for the improvement of the tourism industry. As restrictions of COVID-19 have been eased to some extent, it is necessary to prepare the ancient MraukU city and the Ngapali beach to catch the attention of the travellers.
The Vice-Senior General highlighted that Rakhine State is a disaster-prone area as it is a coastal area. Local people need to raise their awareness of climatic conditions. At a time when they have information about weather forecasts, they need to take care of warning levels for seeking shelters or safer places if necessary. Local authorities and people must make preparations to have readiness in accordance with the natural disaster prevention plan if a storm hits. After the storms, they have to undertake relief and rehabilitation under the action plan.
A citizenship scrutiny card is of great importance for each eligible voter to cast votes. Plans are underway to scrutinize the CSCs in regions and states. Hence, departmental heads must join the work process of scrutinizing the CSCs in their respective sectors.
The Vice-Senior General urged those present to train athletes to turn out the outstanding ones in the state. Their sports training results must break the records of sports at different levels including the Southeast Asian level and the international level. It is necessary to uplift sports standards which can bring honour to the State.
So far, the Vice-Senior General continued to say that the peace talks have been held with five ethnic armed organizations which understand the genuine desires of the citizens wishing to live peacefully. The Head of State held talks with ALP transported from Rakhine State to Nay Pyi Taw by a special flight and then, further talks were held between ALP and the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee. The Vice-Senior General noted that the remaining EAOs will be received to hold talks for the restoration of perpetual peace.
It can be seen that number of students and faculty members at the university level in the education sector in Rakhine State is larger than in other regions and states due to proper peace and tranquillity. Hence, the state government, departmental officials, personnel and local people should sustain such a good condition. The Rakhine state government needs to give service to the people at the grassroots level in a correct way while assisting in undertaking the economic, social, health and education sectors, the Vice-Senior General said. — MNA
