Third group of Myanmar nationals returns from Thailand under bilateral cooperation mechanism

On 20 February 2019, the first batch of 133 verified Myanmar nationals returned to Kyauk Lone Gyi, Myawady through Thailand-Myanmar Friendship Bridge No.1. They were welcomed by H.E. U Myo Myint Than, Myanmar Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand, Colonel Myo Min Naung, Minister of Security and Border Affairs of Kayin State Government and officials from the relevant Ministries.
The Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand have been cooperating to repatriate the verified Myanmar nationals from Thailand in an orderly manner.
The Myanmar authorities will receive the third group of 575 verified Myanmar nationals from 20 to 22 February 2019 through the Myawady Gate in Kayin State and Me Se Gate in Kayah State.
The second batch of 260 and the third batch of 182 verified Myanmar nationals will also return to Myanmar through Me Se Gate in Kayah State and Myawady Gate in Kayin State, respectively.
The Myanmar-Thailand Joint Working Group for the return of verified Myanmar nationals will convene its third meeting in Chiang Rai, Thailand in early March 2019, it is learnt.
