Three more died of seasonal influenza

Additional lab test from 2 pm on 29 July to 2 pm yesterday found 10 out of 44 suspected patients were infected with seasonal influenza A(H1N1) pdm09.
Two patient admitted to Yangon General Hospital on 15 July, and on 28 July respectively and another patient transferred to North Okkalapa Hospital from Yangon General Hospital yesterday died of the seasonal influenza yesterday according to Ministry of Health and Sports.
The Ministry of Health and Sports has accelerated emergency response, monitoring, prevention, control and awareness campaigns as regards the seasonal influenza.
During the period from 21 to 30 July, 182 patients infected with acute respiratory illness were admitted to hospitals in the whole country.
Of them 51 were found A(H1N1) pdm09 positive and 10 of them died of the disease. So the mortality rate of the disease is 5.49 per cent. Records up to 2 pm yesterday showed that five patients receiving treatment at Yangon General Hospital, three receiving treatment at Special Hospital (Waibagi) and one receiving treatment at People’s Hospital (1000-bed) in Nay Pyi Taw were infected with seasonal influenza A(H1N1) pdm09. Infectious Diseases Control branch of the Ministry of Health and Sports is trying to collect the up-to-date exact list of H1N1 suspected patients in the whole country.  It is also adopting work programs based expert analyses on the dimension of the infection and future possibilities.
The strict observance of the directives and announcements issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports will mitigate the infection rate of the disease. Lives can be saved effectively if patients found with symptoms of the acute influenza are admitted to hospital immediately. The Ministry of Health and Sports is posting information on the occurrence of the disease and preventive measures on its Internet page and Myanmar CDC facebook page in real time.—Myanmar News Agency
