Winners of the Thukha Dagon public rental housing at the second stage will be signing contract for residing and providing deposit on 20 May, according to the Ministry of Construction.
The Thukha Dagon public rental housing is constructed and located at the junction of Nos 2 and 7 highways in Dagon Myothit (South) Township. Authorities will allow residing on 1 June for the lots drawing winners of the housing at the second stage on 13 November 2023.
“We won the housing lots in November last year. We will sign the contract for residing on 20 May this year. Those who are currently living in the housing are the lots drawing winners in previous stage. We are very glad to have chance to live at the housing since we have many challenges living as the tenants,” Daw Myint Swe from Thingangyun Township, who won the lots told the Global New Light of Myanmar.
A total of over 1900 rooms from Thukha Dagon housing will be allotted this year. Third time forms for residing have been sold from 25 March to 25 April, the report stated.
Flats from the Thukha Dagon housing have been allowed for the civil servants, retired personnel and the public who have difficulties in living. Accordingly, a total of 810 rooms in June 2024; 864 rooms in July; 272 rooms will be allowed in December.
The report also stated that a total of 1,168 rooms have been allowed in December 2023.
“It is very suitable for those who have difficulties in living. In the first lots drawing stage, some who own the houses involved drawing, which impacted on those who truly do not own houses. What is more, the former groups signed the contract for living. However, they did not reside at the housing with the given period. When the department warned, they leased the rooms to the tenants. Authorities should scrutinize those cases,” Ko Tun Lin from Dagon Myothit (South) Township told the GNLM. It is also reported that bus stops and bus terminals will also be constructed for the housing. — TWA/TMT
