Nay Pyi Taw, 1 Dec — Speaker of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw and Pyithu Hluttaw Thura U Shwe Mann met Norwegian King His Majesty Harald V and Her Majesty Queen Sonja at the Hluttaw building on Monday.
During his welcome speech, Thura U Shwe Mann said that the visit of His Majesty is an evidence of good relations between the two countries, and it is believed as an appreciation of Norway for the democratic reforms and peace-making processes in Myanmar.
The speaker noted that while Myanmar is striving for these steps, the country and people hope the continuous supports of Norway in these efforts.  King Harald V also thanked for warmly welcome of Myanmar officials, saying that his visit was aimed to promote ties between the two countries.
The king then pledged the support of their country in the transitional period of Myanmar, in which some reform processes should be done immediately, while some steps may take time.
He also said his expectation on free and fair elections in Myanmar.
The meeting was attended by the union ministers, members of Hluttaw affairs committees and the ambassadors to both countries.
