Top Myanmar referee to assess AFC officiating

Yangon, 2 March —Myanmar’s most senior football referee, U Tun Hla Aung, will oversee the officiating of upcoming AFC Champions League and AFC Cup football matches.
The Myanmar Referees Committee Chairman will be referee assessor for the match between Australia’s Western Sydney Wanderers and China’s Guangzhou Evergrande in the ACL Group (H) in Australia on 4 March.
He will also assess match officials in the clash between a Hong Kong side, either Kitchee or Sun Pegasus, and one of two Malaysian sides, Honor Darul Taz’im or Selangor, in Group (F) of the AFC Cup to be held in Hong Kong on 17 March.
U Tun Hla Aung played for the Myanmar National Team in 1972. He refereed international matches from 1995 to 2004 before becoming an Asian Football Confederation referee assessor in 2006.  He is the first official from Myanmar to hold the position.—GNLM
