The National Volunteer Steering Unit has launched Training of Trainers (ToT) programme for the volunteers at the quarantine centres and those who will take part in medical tests in respective townships of Yangon Region.
The course was initiated yesterday with an opening remark of Social Affairs Minister U Naing Ngan Lin as the chairman of Yangon Region COVID-19 Control and Emergency Response Work Committee.
He said, “We will conduct health inspection in Hlinethaya and Tamway townships on 16 and 17 May. The team will include two health workers, two volunteers, heads of respective areas. Except health workers, the remaining persons will need training. We have conducted trainings to 60 persons today.”
Yangon Region has over 5,000 registered volunteers to fight COVID-19.
The ToT course included the topics of public communications, counselling, practical use of PPE, discard of garbage and environmental cleaning.
Dr Wunna Tun from Myanmar Medical Association said, “Volunteer doctors of our association are taking part in ToT programmes across the country. These doctors have also got this training. The courses have begun today in respective townships.”—Min Thit (Translated by Aung Khin)
