Tourist arrivals via Kawthoung border gate rise

With the development of the tourism industry in Taninthayi Region, local and foreign travellers entering Myanmar via the Kawthoung border gate have increased this year compared to last year.
In 2018, a total of 954 tourists visited Myanmar via the Kawthoung gate, including 874 tourists who came to the country to travel and 80 tourists who came on business.
In 2019, a total of 3,094 tourists visited Myanmar via the Kawthoung gate, including 3,033 tourists for traveling and 61 for business, according to official statistics provided by the Directorate of Hotels ad Tourism.
Most of the local travellers were from Yangon, Mandalay, and the upper towns of Myanmar. Meanwhile, foreign travellers who visited significant places in Kawthoung entered through Thailand, in accordance with procedures set by the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism. They visited Victoria point or Bayintnaung cape, Bayintnaung king statue, Pyitawaye pagoda, 555 Mountain viewpoint, Malewan natural waterfall, hot springs, and some islands near Kawthoung Town—Kyaw Soe (Kawthoung) (Translated by Hay Mar)
