A tree planting event organized by the Myanmar National Committee for Women’s Affairs (MNCWA) to usher in July 3 Myanmar Women’s Day was held at Yan Aung Myin Forest Reserve block 13 beside Nay Pyi Taw circuit road B-4 in Dekkhinathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning. First Lady Daw Cho Cho attended the event and planted a Khayay sapling.
Former First Lady Daw Su Su Lwin, Vice President U Myint Swe’s wife Daw Khin Thet Htay, Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U T Khun Myat’s wife Daw Yin May, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than’s wife Daw Nant Kyin Kyi, Constitutional Tribunal of Myanmar Chairperson U Myo Nyunt’s wife Daw Htay Yi, Union Election Commission (UEC) Chairman U Hla Thein’s wife Daw Aye Thida, MNCWA Chairman Union Minister Dr Win Myat Aye, Union Ministers’ wives, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman’s wife, Deputy Ministers, chairpersons and officials of organizations also attended the tree planting event.
At the event First Lady Daw Cho Cho planted a Khayay sapling at a designated place. Former First Lady planted a Khayay sapling, Vice President’s wife planted a Padauk sapling, Pyithu Hluttaw and Amyotha Hluttaw Speakers’ wives planted Gangaw saplings, Constitutional Tribunal of Myanmar Chairperson’s wife and UEC Chairman’s wife planted Padauk saplings at designated places.
Similarly Union Minister Dr. Win Myat Aye, wives of Union Ministers, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairperson’s wife, Deputy Ministers and officials, chairpersons and officials MNCWA, Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association and various organizations and entities planted tree saplings at designated places.
Afterwards, the First Lady and party inspected and encouraged event attendees planting saplings.
At the day’s event over 1,000 saplings of Khayay, teak, mahogany, padauk etc. were planted and the saplings will be cared for by the Forest Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation.
