Triple Purpose Dam Opened

THE triple-purpose Yazagyo Dam was formally opened along with a hydro-electric power plant in Kale Township in Sagaing Region yesterday.
President U Thein Sein attended the opening ceremony and unveiled the stone inscription monument.
The Yazagyo Dam was built to mitigate flooding of Kale area, supply irrigated water for cultivation activities and generate electricity to supply the local populace.
President U Thein Sein told the responsible officials concerned to monitor continually the dam to ensure the strength being enough to withstand the natural disasters inclusive of earthquakes as well as to prevent illegal extraction of timber in the water catchment areas.
The President also visited No 1 State High School in Kale where he met with the school teachers and gave guidance.
Speaking at the meeting, the president asked the school teachers to provide quality education, to develop the rule-abiding habit, to convince them of the goodness of self-respect and to instil in them the patriotic spirit.
