Two men were killed following a head-on car crash in Mong Phyat Township in Tachilek District, Shan State (East) on 1 March evening.
A 47-year-old man and a 45-year-old man lost their lives in the accident.
According to the witnesses, the crash happened at approximately 3:45 pm between Soatpan village and Saikgone village on Kengtung-Mong Phyat-Tachilek Pyidaungsu Road.
According to the investigation, Vigo, a 12-wheel vehicle, which was en route to Tachilek from Mong Phyat driven by Arr Phar, 37, with U Maw Yar, 47, U Arr Khant, 45, and Ma Arr Par, 18 onboard from Tachilek, collided head-on with another Fuso 12-wheel vehicle heading to Mong Phyat from Tachilek driven by Aung Ko Min Naing, 31, from Meiktila town on Pyidaungsu Road.
The driver and the passenger from the Vigo vehicle have been pronounced dead with severe injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, the passenger named Ma Arr Par from the same car was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The Pyidaungsu Road was shut down for about an hour during the traffic crash investigation. The road was reopened later.
The Mong Phyat Myoma Police Station has filed charges against both reckless vehicle-drivers Arr Phar, 37, and Aung Ko Min Naing, 31, under Sections 279/338/304 of the Penal Code, according to the Township Police Station. — Township (IPRD)/GNLM
