The Myanmar Football Federation has appointed U Myo Hlaing Win as the head coach of the Myanmar National Football Team for the 2024-25 international competitions, beginning in September.
The Myanmar National Team will first participate in FIFA international friendlies, facing teams such as Singapore and Lebanon.
U Myo Hlaing Win represented Myanmar in the national team from 1987 until his retirement in 2004. He was a prolific scorer in domestic matches, as well as in the Malaysian and Thai leagues, and became a prominent player in the ASEAN region. In 2007, he began his coaching career with the Air Bagan team and has since held coaching roles with both the Myanmar national teams and Myanmar National League clubs.
The Myanmar National Team will also compete in the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2024, with home and away matches starting on 8 December. Additionally, they will participate in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers and FIFA international qualifiers from March 2025. — TWA/TKO
