Union Education Minister holds discussion with education staff in Yangon

Union Minister Dr Nyunt Pe meets the officials of the education sector at different levels in Yangon yesterday.

Union Minister for Education Dr Nyunt Pe held meeting with the officials of the Higher Education, Basic Education, Technical and Vocational Education sectors yesterday.
During the meeting, the Union Minister highlighted the efforts of the ministry in fulfilling the needs of basic education schools in Nay Pyi Taw, Meiktila, Magway and Pathein townships, the reopening of all basic education schools on 1 June while the universities will reopen on 5 May for the final year and master students.
The Union Minister said the university students must review the remaining subjects to sit for during their current studies. The result of Master (2nd year) will be released as soon as possible to be able to apply for tutor and demonstrator positions.
He also discussed the appointment of teachers for basic and higher education sectors, combination of schools if they have very few numbers of students, more applicants for M.Ed than the limited numbers and arrangements to fulfill the needs of teachers while they join M.Ed.
The Union Minister said the students would face difficulties for long suspension of the teaching sector. It is unnecessary to pay salary to those do not enter duties by breaking Civil Services Law. The teachers should consider that their pupils and youths will face hardships if they do return their duties. The non-CDM education staff must sign not to commit such doing again if they return their duties.
He also stressed the need to urged the CDM participants to return their duties in line with the Civil Services Law and to welcome the teachers who left CDM.
The Union Minister also discussed the plans to provide proper teaching aids to the schools and urged the teachers to submit the needed things for the schools no later than 23 April. He then instructed the township education officers to make efforts in their duties and also said those with 36 years of experience in education sector who have been fired can submit their proposals to the ministry if they feel aggrieved for such actions.
Then, the attendees to the meeting coordinated the discussions and the Union Minister gave necessary instructions.—MNA
