Union FM arrives back home after FEALAC’s 7th Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

Union Foreign Affairs Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin arrived back here after attending the FEALAC’s 7th Foreign Ministers’ Meeting which took place in San José, Costa Rica from 19 to 21 August.
At the Retreat and Plenary Session on 21 August, U Wunna Maung Lwin elaborated the commitment of Myanmar to continue working closely with other FEALAC members in tapping bi-regional cooperation particularly in the areas of trade and investment, tourism, agriculture, environmental conservation, disaster preparedness, rural and sustainable development and people to people exchanges amongst FEALAC member states as well as further direction of FEALAC.  The FEALAC VII FMM adopted the declaration of San José.Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) was established in 1999 with 27 member countries which has increased to 36 members. This forum has become a platform for fostering exchanges and interactions with a view to promote mutual knowledge, political dialogue and cooperation as well as to strengthen political, economic and cultural ties between two regions.
While in Costa Rica, the Union Minister met with his counterparts from Costa Rica and Colombia on 20 August. He also met U.S congressman Mr Ed Royce, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, at the latter’ office in Brea City to discuss lifting of US’s sanctions imposed on Myanmar on 19 August. The Union Minister also inspected the Consulate-General Office of Myanmar in Los Angeles which was opened on 2 May this year, where the he was briefed by the responsible officials on matters related to consular and visa services and also assistances provided by the office to Myanmar nationals in Los Angeles.
