Union Health Minister attends opening ceremony of Secretariat of ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies in Bangkok

The MoH Union Minister meets the Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health yesterday.

At the invitation of Thailand Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health Mr Anutin Charnvirakul, Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win attended the opening ceremony of the Secretariat of the ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies held at the Bangrak Medical Centre Building in Bangkok, Thailand yesterday afternoon.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand and Minister of Public Health, ASEAN Secretary-General Mr Lim Jock Hoi, health ministers, deputy ministers and officials from ASEAN countries attended the ceremony.
At the ceremony, Thailand Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health Mr Anutin Charnvirakul gave the opening speech. Along with the deputy prime minister, the representatives of the ASEAN countries pressed the button to open the centre.
Secretariat of the ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases (ACPHEED) were opened with the support of Japan and it can respond to public health emergencies in ASEAN countries. ASEAN countries can cooperate more closely with each other for treatment activities, preventing outbreaks of infectious diseases, exchanging public health information within ASEAN countries, and opening and delivering courses.
After the ceremony, Union Minister Dr Thet Khaing Win met Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health Mr Anutin Charnvirakul.
During the meeting, they discussed more cooperation in Myanmar-Thailand healthcare activities, raising prevention and control measures against infectious diseases including COVID-19 in the border areas of the two countries and issues of medicines, vaccines and medical equipment to be donated to Myanmar from Thailand. — MNA
