Union Health Minister inspects traditional medicine factories in Yangon

Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win meets Managing Director Dr Khin Maung Lwin at traditional medicine factory of Fame Pharmaceuticals in Hlinethaya Township on 23 October.

Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win visited the factory of Fame Pharmaceuticals in Hlinethaya Township yesterday morning, and inspected the store of raw materials, quality control room, laboratory and drug manufacturing conditions.
In meeting with factory Managing Director Dr Khin Maung Lwin, the Union minister said that as the SME business develops, the State economy will increase. By growing and producing necessary raw materials locally, the country will be able to reduce the spending of foreign exchange. As traditional medicine contributes to public healthcare on one hand, the development of the traditional medicine sector is important. It is necessary to especially control quality of export products. The research and development section is particularly important in order to export and sell international-level pharmaceutical products.
Next, the Union Minister inspected Satkyar Min Traditional Medicine Manufacturing Industry in Mingaladon Industrial Zone, and met with U Myint Wai, Managing Director of Satkyar Min Company Limited.
During the meeting, the Union Minister said that the government is continuously encouraging the traditional medicine sector, and has also increased the remuneration of traditional medicine practitioners. It is necessary to conduct scientific research at every stage of production and sale, depending on the research results, the products must be upgraded. Production must be evidence based, and document based.
After that, the Union Minister inspected U Thayin Traditional Medicine Manufacturing Industry in Dagon Myothit (South) Township Industrial Zone (2).—MNA
