Union Information Minister tours printing houses, TV stations

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn met Chairman of the Young Men’s Buddhist Association (YMBA) Agga Maha Mingala Dhamma Zawtika Daja U Ye Tun and officials yesterday morning at the Department of Printing and Publishing in Yangon.
During the meeting, the Union Minister said the Ministry of Information, in collaboration with the Ministry of Religious affairs and Culture, will support the activities of the YMBA, as well as provide necessary assistance in activities of the association and publishing books.
The Chairman of the YMBA handed over the books and journals published by the association to the Union Minister.
Afterwards, the Union Minister inspected GTC Printing House, Sarpay Beikman Printing House and Aung San Printing House in Insein Township.
At the meeting with officials of the GTC Publishing House, the Union Minister said it is important for the printing houses to print the required books for the state as per the time frame, and thus it is important to do the reformation. He said it is necessary to submit reports to build staff housings in each financial year, adding the Government is working on long-term plans for young people, and it is important to provide them with the right knowledge and ideas. He added the need for staff to comply with the COVID-19 preventive measures, for the ministry to provide the people with the best services.
The Union Minister also visited the Yeku Broadcasting Station of the Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) and inspected the operation of Radio Myanmar and private television channels. During the meeting the Director General of MRTV and officials, he instructed them to pay attention to the security and prepare for fire prevention. He stressed the importance of the media sector in shaping the country into a modern democratic nation. He said the Prime Minister of the State pays attention to the media and lets the MRTV broadcast modern, interesting and good programmes for the people.
Then, he inspected the filming in Sky Net TV studios under the COVID-19 rules and regulations and instructed officials to make detailed preparation for filming activities to be expanded. During the visit to Forever Group’s TV station, he toured live broadcast vehicles, studios, virtual studios and video editing. At the meeting with the company officials, he instructed them to plan and present good programmes for recreation and rejuvenation of the people following the COVID-19 preventive measures. — MNA
