The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security is trying to facilitate better coordination between employers and employees in connection with the demand for pay rise, Union Minister U Aye Myint told a meeting here on Friday, officials said.
The union minister urged both sides to reach a compromise, saying that the two-week-long boycott has caused employers to suffer losses and employees to encounter difficult livelihood.
According to the union minister, Red Stone, a garment factory, experienced a similar hardship, but now it has resumed its operation following a compromise between the boss and his workers.
“Protests that lead to the blockage to the factories are against the law,” he said, adding that clearing the blockage is not the solution to the problem.
Labour dispute has occurred in four foreign factories.
