Union Legal Affairs Minister Dr Thida Oo holds talks with Chinese Ambassador Mr Chen Hai in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

the Union Minister for Legal Affairs Union Attorney-General Dr Thida Oo received Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Chen Hai at the ministry in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
During the meeting, the Union minister mentioned her attendance of the 59th Asia-Africa Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO) held in Hong Kong at the invitation of Mr Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. She highlighted matters in connexion with the discussion in support of the theme: “Upholding International Law for A Community of Shared Future: The Role of Asian and African Countries” proposed by China at the AALCO conference, preparations being made to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the China-ASEAN Legal Research Centre and the Ministry of Legal Affairs, the cooperation in the field of legislative research in accord with the MoU, the cultivation of legal talents and legal consulting services, the sending of law officers from the Ministry of Legal Affairs to China for capacity strengthening training, the learning of legal matters and gaining international experiences for the students who go on study tours, and discussion between China and Myanmar to host the China-ASEAN Prosecutors-General Conference in Myanmar. She also expressed her special thanks for China’s support and assistance to Myanmar.
Afterwards, expressing his sympathy to the local people who were affected by Mocha, Ambassador Mr Chen Hai said that China will provide aid in the rehabilitation works, assist in signing the MoU with the Ministry of Legal Affairs, and further cooperation in legislation, judicial and law enforcement matters. He finally discussed the resumption of the implementation of the Kyaukpyu Special Economic Zone deep-sea port project in the near future. — MNA/TS
