Union Minister discusses tourism cooperation with Hong Kong, Macau

The Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism,U Ohn Maung, attended the Hong Kong International Tourism Conference at the Hong Kong Convention in the Hong Kong Special Administration Region on 12 December and held talks with the Secretary for the Social Affairs and Culture of Macau on 15 December.
At the conference, the Union Minister discussed the regional and international tourism sector and its engagement with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau-Greater Bay Area, especially bilateral contacts between countries along the Belt and Road, visa relaxation, and extension of flights.
The Union Minister also met with Mr. Zhu Shanzhong, the Chief Executive Officer of the World Tourism Organization, and Mr. Song Hai Yan, a professor at the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong, and discussed assistance for conducting courses on the human resource development of Myanmar.
He held talks with Mrs. Carrie Lam, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAG, on promoting bilateral cooperation for the development of the hotels and tourism business on 11 December at the Hong Kong Convention Center. He also discussed bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector with the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of Hong Kong, Mr. Edward Yau.
In a meeting with Mr. Alexis Tam Chong Veng, the Secretary for the Social Affairs and Culture of Macau on 15 December, at the JW Marriott Hotel in Macau, the Union Minister discussed the display of paintings by Myanmar artists at the contemporary arts show, continued cooperation for tourism development of Myanmar, Myanmar’s participation at the Global Tourism and Economic Forum to be held in Macau, and opening of tourism courses in cooperation with tourism schools of Macau.
The Union Minister also met with members of the Hong Kong-Macau-Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Myanmar association in Macau. He also visited the Dancing Water show, the Macau Tower, and the Hong Kong-Macau Bridge. — MNA (Translated by TMT)
