Union Minister Dr. Aung Thu inspects usage of combined harvester and thresher

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Thu, accompanied by Department of Agriculture and Agricultural Mechanisation Department Directors General, conducted a field visit to farmer U Aung’s farmland in Tegyikone Village, Zabuthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw, where rice planted under the SRI (System of Rice Intensification) was being reaped, threshed and winnowed by a combined harvester and thresher and dried using a mobile dryer.
During a meeting with local farmers and departmental officials at the farmland, the union minister discussed the requirements of officials in providing systematic assistance and guidance to overcome challenges, including weather, for realistically raising the socio-economic life of farmers through the use of good quality pedigree seeds, a proper agriculture system and good inputs, as well as reducing waste through the entire chain of reaping, threshing, winnowing, storage and sale at the market.
Later, the union minister received United States Department of Agriculture Under-Secretary Mr. McKinney and party at the union minister’s meeting hall and discussed matters relating to information on assessing and calculating the danger of pests in trading plants and plant products and increasing the exports of Myanmar agriculture products.
