The School Management Capacity Building Course No. (1/2021) for founders and administrators of private schools was conducted via online by the Education Management Training Centre (Yangon), which is under the Department of Basic Education, yesterday morning.
During the training, Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi said that school founders and principals are leaders in their organizations and called on school principals to work hard to be good leaders admired by teachers and students.
The Union Minister said that enhancing education is a long-term task, and the private sector will be encouraged in the education sector, reiterating what the State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi said in the New Year. During the capacity building course, the Union Minister discussed UNESCO research reports: “Learning to be: the world of education Today and Tomorrow”, “Learning: the treasure within”, “Global Education Monitoring Report 2017/18: Accountability in Education”, and “The Digital Transformation of Education : Connecting Schools Empowering Learners.”
He also discussed OECD research reports: “Trends Shaping Education 2019”, and “Future of Education and Skills 2030: OECD Learning Compass
2030”. Research reports delivered by AHK Myanmar (in cooperation with Roland Berger and Myanmar Survey Research), The Education Commission and The World Bank are also discussed in the session. He said that the school enrollment rate has increased because of the implementation of education reform in line with the National Education Strategic Plan 2016-2021.
The Ministry of Education is collaborating with other stakeholders in order for ethnic children to learn their relevant ethnic languages (as local curricula) in their areas, according to the Union Minister. The ministry also trained teachers in teaching methodologies and learning methodologies.
In collaboration with education stakeholders, the ministry also drafted the National Education Strategic Plan 2021-2030, according to the Union Minister. Myanmar Private Schools Association Chairperson U Nay Oke (St Paul) expressed thanks to the Union Minister and the trainers.
