Union minister of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Dr. Win Myat Aye met with Special Representative of United Nations Secretary General on Sexual Violance in Conflict , Ms. Pramila Patten, General Secretary of Norwegian People’s aid, Ms. Henriette Lilli Westhrin and Special Envoy of UN Secretary General for Myanmar Ms. Christine Schranner Burgener, individually.
When Meeting Ms. Pramila Patten in Radisson Blu Hotel in special meeting room, they discussed the current status of effort to pass law to protect women from violence, current status of National Committee on Prevention and Response to Conflict- Related Sexual Violence, working Network of UNFPA,UNWOMEN and other local woman organizations and implementation of agreement between central government and UN.
He, then met with Ms. Henriette Killi Westhrin at meeting hall of Myanmar Embassy in Norway.
During the meeting, they discussed preparation for signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Department of Rehabilitation and Norwegian People’s Aid, speeding up the process of educating people on danger of mine, courses and workshops on mine cleaning given by Norwegian people’s aid in collaboration with Thailand and Cambodia and giving scholarship development of human resource.
Afterwards, He went to meet Ms,. Christine Schraner Burgener at the same place. During the meeting they discussed current status of Fact Sheet on welcoming IDPs, Signing MoU with UNHCR, policy on closing IDP camps, ASEAN collaboration in welcoming IDPs, Drawing up new law to protect child right, and protecting women from sexual harassment in conflict.—MNA
