Union Minister opens new school buildings funded by Indonesian government

A handover ceremony of four basic education schools funded by the government of the Republic of Indonesia was held in Thaykan and Sanbalay villages in Minbya Township, Rakhine State, on 8 December.
Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Thet Naing Win, Chief Minister of Rakhine State U Maung Maung Ohn and Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Mr Abdurrahman Mohammad Fachir formally opened the schools. The Indonesian Ambassador handed over documents related to the schools to the Rakhine State Education Officer.
The Indonesian government funded the cost for construction of buildings at Basic Education Primary Schools in Thaykan and Sanbalay villages in Minbya Township, one building in Mawrawady village in Maungdaw Township and Thabyaygon ward in Buthidaung Township.
The school buildings can be used as shelters during natural disasters like cyclones.
