The work coordination meeting to hold Mekong-Lancang Cultural Exchange Youth Camp was held yesterday morning in the Lawkanat Hall of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture’s office, where Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko delivered an opening address.
In his opening speech, Union Minister Thura U Aung Ko said that the cultural exchange programme was held with the aim of enhancing cooperation between cultural groups and youth artists from six Mekong-Lancang countries, including Cambodia, Lao, Myanmar, Viet Nam, Thailand and China.
He added that arrangements would be made to invite the youth artists from six Mekong-Lancang countries to attend the meeting and the Mekong-Lancang Cultural Exchange Youth Camp was launched with the use of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Fund.
Moreover Directors-General from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of International Cooperation would act as chairs in order to carry out the implementation process of the Mekong-Lancang cooperation. In addition to this, plans were under way to set up the Mekong-Lancang coordination team made up of representatives from other relevant ministries. Thus all the attendees from the ministries were urged to take part in ensuring the smooth work process.
Also present at the meeting were Chairman of Coordination Committee Deputy Minister U Kyi Min and its members, Chairman of Mekong-Lancang Cooperation and officials from relevant sub-committees and departments.
Artists and Participants from the regional countries discussed the matters concerning the paper reading, art gallery and handicrafts display from the youth training schools, security, invitation, accommodation, preparation, transportation, communication, healthcare, and production and broadcasting of Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) programmes. Following this, the Union Minister Thura U Aung Ko coordinated the requirements of the attendees at the meeting.
