Union Minister U Kyaw Tint Swe attends 14th Jeju Forum

Union Minister for the Office of the State Counsellor U Kyaw Tint Swe attended the 14th Jeju Forum for Peace & Prosperity 2019 organized by the Republic of Korea Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Jeju Free International City Development Center at International Convention Center, Jeju, ROK from 29 to 30 May.
On the evening of 29 May, the Union Minister attended a dinner hosted by Jeju Governor Mr. Won Heeryong and then attended the opening ceremony of 14th Jeju Forum held in the morning of 30 May.
Later in the afternoon of 30 May, the Union Minister attended a private discussion titled “New Southern Policy, Achievements and Challenges over the Past Two Years: In the Aspect of Foreign and Security Policy” and delivered the keynote speech.
In his opening speech, the Union Minister spoke of the benefits of ROK’s New Southern Policy, ASEAN-Korea economic and trade cooperation, Myanmar’s continuous support of ROK President Moon Jae-in government’s denuclearization of Korean peninsula and eternal peace process, promoting increased investment of Korean companies in Myanmar, friendship between Myanmar and Korea and increasing friendship and cooperation.
The 14th Jeju Forum was also attended by former President of Austria Mr. Heinz Fischer, former Prime Minister of Australia Mr. Malcolm Turnbull, former Prime Minister of Japan Mr. Yukio Hatoyama, former Foreign Minister of People’s Republic of China Mr. Li Zhaoxing, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Indonesia Mr. Marty Natalegawa and ASEAN Secretary General Dato Lim Jock Hoi. Union Minister U Kyaw Tint Swe left for Tokyo in the evening of 30 May to attend the 25th International Conference on Future of Asia that will be held in Tokyo, Japan. — MNA (Translated by Zaw Min)
