Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn meets hoteliers, tourism officials

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Maung Maung Ohn held talks with chairpersons and officials of Myeik District Hoteliers Association, Tourism Entrepreneur Association and Restaurant Entrepreneur Association in Myeik yesterday.
During the meeting, the Union Minister highlighted that the Myeik Archipelago of Taninthayi Region is a tourist destination that attracts both local and foreign visitors.
It has natural islands out of more than 800 islands and Sea Gypsies Mawken or Salon people. The hotel and tourism industry is related to other sectors. If the tourism sector is revived, there would be certain job opportunities for local people. It can promote the socio-economic status of all people from all walks of life.
The government, people and private entrepreneurs should cooperate to support the tourism sector. He then urged the participants to discuss the tourism development programmes in Myeik District openly.
The Director-General of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism explained COVID-19 vaccination programmes for hotel staff, Hotel Guest List Management System, and the plans to develop new tourist destinations.
The Union Minister and party then met the Chairmen and officials of Kawthoung District Hoteliers Association, Tourism Entrepreneur Association and Tour Guide Association in Kawthoung and discussed tourism development programmes.
The Union Minister also discussed with Taninthayi Region Administration Council Chairman U Tin Aung about tourism sectors and inspected the upgrading work of Victoria Entertainment Resort.
Kawthoung Township of Taninthayi Region is located at 125 ft above sea level. The visitors pay a visit there for its beautiful islands and underwater beauty. – MNA
