The Union Minister for Transport and Communications, U Thant Sin Maung, the Myanma Railways Managing Director, and other officials inspected the ongoing upgradation of the Yangon Circular Railway, riding an RBE train,on 23
December.
Work to upgrade the Circular Railway is being conducted at the Ahlon, Kyimyindine, Thiri Myine, Thamaing, Myothit, and Insein railway stations. The Union Minister asked railway employees to have sympathy for passengers, to perform duties with cetana (goodwill), and make efforts to ensure smooth transportation for passengers.
The Union Minister inspected the construction of the level crossing at the Insein and Bayintnaung streets’ intersection. Afterwards, he visited the Hlinethaya railway station.
The Union Minister said that the Hlinethaya railway station serves as a link between the Yangon and Ayeyawady regions, and that railway is important for ensuring smooth transportation and regional development. The railway also helps develop trade, he said.
The Union Minister gave guidelines for the upgradation work and left the station around 11 am.
