Union Ministers Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, U Myo Thant and Dr Thet Thet Khine and Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin inspected the unloading of relief and rehabilitation materials on the cargo vessel which docked at the Kaladan Multipurpose Port and the reconstruction works along the strand road in Sittway.
First, Union Minister Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and party inspected the loading of relief items such as CI sheets, lumbers, bricks and cement onto vehicles from MCL 3, MCl 5 and Charities vessels that docked at Sittway Multipurpose Port.
He called for measures to be taken for the safety of the ships in the coming monsoon period, constant monitoring of weather conditions and weather warnings, proper covering of non-water-proof materials with shelters and prioritizing the safety of workplaces.
Afterwards, Union Minister Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and party inspected the restoration and reconstruction works along the Sittway Strand Road, and the situation of rising tides due to the seasonal weather conditions.
To repair Mocha-battered buildings in Rakhine State, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation is transporting timbers from the region and other regions to Sittway and using temporary sawmills to transport them to the areas in need. A total of 1,369 tonnes of timbers have arrived and 758 tonnes have been distributed. The remaining will continue to be distributed to the areas where needed.
Out of 904 mobile stations disconnected due to Cyclone Mocha, only 329 mobile stations resumed services. There are 1,233 mobile stations of four telecom operators in Rakhine State, and for the restoration of damaged mobile stations, the installation of microwave antennas, calibration, equipment inspection, and replacement work are underway. As of 9 June, a total of 882 mobile stations have been repaired, and 98.22 per cent of 1,211 mobile stations have been able to restore communication services. — MNA/TS
