Union National Races Village (Yangon) to resume entertainment programmes

The Union National Races Village (Yangon) in Thakayta Township, Yangon Region, will resume entertainment with traditional ethnic dances starting the month of Thadingyut in the Myanmar calendar, U San Hlaing, a deputy director of the Department of Ethnic Literature and Culture under the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs said yesterday.
The entertainment programs usually perform free of charge at Pyihtaungsu Hall of the village has been halted during the rainy season.
“Usually, every week on Saturday and Sunday, there is a free performance with ethnic folk songs and dances. During the rainy season, there are few visitors, so it is usually stopped temporarily. This program will start again on 29 October during the weekend. During holidays in Thadingyut, there is a special program for the visitors, such as a multi-traditional ethnic dance festival,” U San Hlaing said.
The Union National Races Village (Yangon), located on the bank of Bago River, in Thakayta Township, has landmarks of prominent places related to different ethnic groups and the construction works of a jetty that cruises can dock at the village via Bago River has completed.
With the completion of the jetty, a new program that allows visitors to arrive at the village via cruises and an activity that lets visitors prepare and consume traditional ethnic foods on their own will launch during the upcoming tourist season. — ASH/TH
