Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister meets Director-General of Olympic Council of Asia and World Aquatic President

Myanmar Olympic Committee Chair Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan met Director-General Mr Husain AHZ Al Musallam of the Olympic Council of Asia and World Aquatic President and members at National Indoor Stadium 1 in Thuwunna in Thingangyun Township, Yangon yesterday.
After welcoming and honouring the OCA director-general and WA president, the Union minister underscored appreciation for his visit to Myanmar for more detailed discussions in the development of Myanmar’s swimming sports. It would also raise the hope for assistance in the construction of a high-quality swimming pool, he added.
Director-General of the Olympic Council of Asia and World Aquatic President Mr Husain AHZ Al Musallam said that in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, swimming training will be conducted for children aged 6 and above, training for physical education teachers and training for Myanmar swimming athletes will also be provided.
He added that it is necessary to send the drawing for the construction of an international-level swimming pool in Myanmar in the 2023-2024 financial year. He underlined the importance for Asian countries to work together in the development of sports regardless of any discrimination.
The Union minister and the OCA D-G exchanged souvenirs. The honorary dinner was hosted for the director-general of the Olympic Council of Asia at Novotel Yangon Max Hotel in Yangon and attended by Union Minister U Min Thein Zan, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and cabinet members. — MNA/KZL
