Officials from the General Administration Department and the Public Health Department, local authorities, Basic Education Department, teacher-parent associations and relevant persons carried out inspections of preparations to reopen high schools under the prevention and control measures against COVID-19.
Out of 7,173 high schools, the inspection was conducted at 7,129 schools from 17 July 2020 to 21 August 2020. The number of schools in A category for reopening totalled 6,573, the number of schools to be scrutinized again amounted to 530 and the remaining schools that need more preparations were 26.
According to the updated results of inspection from 21 July 2020 to 21 August 2020, the number of A-category schools has been 6,526, while more schools will be allowed for reopening after providing possible assistance as soon as possible.
Some schools in Rakhine State have been suspended to be able to conduct effective measures against COVID-19 spread although they were recently allowed for reopening. Moreover, some schools under preparations for reopening in this state will also be delayed.
The reopening of schools in Rakhine State will be arranged depending on the results of COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment.
