Upgraded Marle Nattaung dam to irrigate more than 3,200 acres of monsoon crops this year in Singu

More than 3,200 acres of monsoon crops will be irrigated from the Marle Nattaung dam in Singu Township, PyinOoLwin District, Mandalay Region starting from the third week of this month.
The Marle Nattaung dam received 17,282 acre feet of water in July and August and the water level reached RL-428.40 feet while the water level of the dam is RL-443.
Of 24,455 acre feet of the current water storage of the dam, 17,045 acre feet of water will be provided to a total of 3,285 monsoon crops this year.
The upgrade work has already done to the dam in order to provide enough irrigation water for the farmers.
The Assistant Director of the Department of Irrigation and Water Resources Management Department for Mandalay Region urged farmers to use water sparingly so that they could use the water comfortably without wastage.
The irrigation water from the dam will be provided in each season, he added.
The inflow of rain water will be stored in the dam during this rainy season and arrangement will be made to continue to provide the irrigation water for summer crops.
As the dam is systematically upgraded, 6,500 acres of irrigated areas in nearby villages including Marle village, Nattaung village, Latpan village, Singu and Ngwetaung villages will be fully provided with the irrigation water from the dam, it is reported. —Min Htet Aung (Mandalay Sub-printing House)/GNLM
