Yangon, 7 June — Vice President Dr Sai Mauk Kam inspected healthcare facilities at the West Yangon General Hospital on Sunday.
The 200-bedded hospital in Kyimyindine Township is also providing medical services to outpatients, and it consists of 17 wards including a medical ward, a surgical ward, a pediatric ward, and an obstetrics and gynecology ward.
Dr Daw Nyunt Nyunt Wai, the medical superintendent of the hospital, explained the number of staff, healthcare services and free medical treatments in 2014.
Deputy Minister for Health Dr Win Myint and Yangon region’s Chief Minister U Myint Swe presented the possible infrastructural development at the hospital.
At the meeting with responsible persons, Dr Sai Mauk Kham said renovation and development works at the hospital will be carried out depending on the budget allocation each fiscal year together with the contribution of private sector.
He also urged the staff member of the hospital to be hospitable to the patients.
The West Yangon General Hospital was constructed in 1965-1966 and the four-storey building in 1997.
The hospital provided free medical treatments to 14,746 inpatients in 2014. MNA
