Vice President U Henry Van Thio attends coord meeting on recent flooding and inundation

Vice President U Henry Van Thio, who is also the Chairman of the National Natural Disaster Management Committee, attended and delivered a speech at an emergency coordination meeting on the recent flooding and inundations that occurred in Myanmar. The meeting was held yesterday morning at the National Disaster Management Committee
in Nay Pyi Taw.
Present at the meeting were Union Ministers Lt-Gen Sein Win, Lt-Gen Ye Aung, Dr. Pe Myint and Dr. Aung Thu; Deputy Ministers U Min Thu, Maj-Gen Aung Thu, U Win Maw Tun and U Soe Aung; permanent secretaries; directors general and officials.
This meeting was held to ensure necessary coordination on the flooding and inundation currently occurring. Much was lost and damaged in the recent flooding and inundation. At the moment, flooding and inundation are rampant in Bago Region, Taninthayi Region, Mon State and Kayin State. Necessary assistance and relief works are also being provided. The assistance and relief works for affected people require to be coordinated so that quick response to the natural disaster can be taken.
Systematic measures for prevention, rescue and relief should be taken in expectation of disasters, said the Vice President.
Next, National Natural Disaster Management Committee members Union Ministers Lt-Gen Sein Win, Lt-Gen Ye Aung, Dr. Pe Myint and Dr. Aung Thu; Deputy Ministers U Min Thu, Maj-Gen Aung Thu, U Win Maw Tun and U Soe Aung; Permanent Secretaries U Tin Myint, U Tin Maung Oo and U Myo Myint Maung; Directors-General U Khin Maung Win and Dr. Kyaw Moe Oo and officials explained the status of providing assistance and relief to people affected by natural disasters, arrangements for continuing assistance and relief works, arrangements for conducting rehabilitation works, status of emergency response works, plans and arrangements for assistance, security, information, education, health, transport, construction and the electricity sector, and current cooperation of the Tatmadaw in flood-hit areas.
Later, National Natural Disaster Management Committee Chairman Vice President U Henry Van Thio coordinated over the discussion and explanations. Vice President U Henry Van Thio then inspected the satellite images on weather conditions received at the emergency management centre.
