Nay Pyi Taw, 2 March— Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win comforted wounded soldiers on Monday at PyinOoLwin and Lashio military hospitals.
Vice-Senior General Soe Win and senior military officers first visited the wounded soldiers at the military hospital in PyinOoLwin, where they handed out gifts and cash.
He also met with family members of local battalion.
Accompanied by Lt-Gen Aung Than Htut from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Vice-Senior General Soe Win arrived at Lashio military hospital to meet the soldiers, who had been wounded in Kokang and in other clashes, with donation of cash and food before comforting their families.
Together with the head monk of Thiri Minglar Mansu Shan Monastery, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Vice-Senior General Soe Win also handed out rice, cooking oil and food items to the IDPs.
Government troops successfully repelled an offensive by insurgents seeking to take control of Kokang. Among the government soldier casualties were some who sacrificed their lives protecting and safeguarding the sovereignty of the country. Myawady
