Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice Senior General Soe Win received the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, Ms. Virginia Gamba, and party yesterday afternoon at Bayintnaung Guest House in Nay Pyi Taw.
At the meeting, they discussed matters related to preventing children from participating in armed conflicts, final works to be conducted to conclude the Plan of Action in cooperation with UNCTFMR (United Nations Country Task Force on Monitoring and Reporting) to be delisted from countries using child soldiers, works conducted according to the action plan after signing the agreement on the Plan of Action, Tatmadaw conducting training and information works to prevent the recurrence of using child soldiers, and works conducted by the government and Hluttaw representatives to ensure the speedy enactment of the Children’s Rights Law. — MNA
