Victorious Myanmar medallists return home

The 56th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship took place in Batam Island of Indonesia from 6 to 12 August.
The victorious Myanmar sports team comprising seven athletes, one referee and one coach led by the vice-president of the Myanmar Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation arrived back at the Yangon International Airport yesterday afternoon.
Those medallists were welcomed back at the airport by Yangon Region Sports and Physical Education Committee Patron Chief Minister of Yangon Region U Soe Thein, regional ministers, Federation President Vice-Mayor U Nyi Nyi, officials, the principal of the Institute of Sports and Physical Education, students, relatives and friends.
The regional chief minister cordially greeted victorious athletes.
In the championship, Ye Tun Naung secured one gold medal in the 75-kilogramme bodybuilding event, Ni Ni Aung one gold medal in the Women’s Model Physique up to the 160-centimetre event, Thae Wah one silver medal in the Women’s Athletic Physique up to the 165-centimetre event, and Htet Linn Ko Ko one silver medal in the Men’s Athletic Physique up to the 182-centimetre event.
Ko Ko Kyaw Phyo stood fourth in the Men’s Athletic Physique up to the 175-centimetre event, whereas Hein Htet Kyaw and Than Htaik Oo secured the fifth prizes in the 85-kilogramme bodybuilding event and Men’s Sports Physique up to the 170-centimetre event respectively.
More than 200 athletes from 22 countries participated in the championship. — Ko Htet/TTA
