Village administrator shot dead during COVID-19 campaign

Village administrator U Myint Thein Htay was shot dead.

The village administrator of Thinpyo Village was shot to death by the insurgents while he was conducting COVID-19 education programmes with the loudspeaker in Kyaukse Township of the Mandalay Region on 1 November.
The victim, U Myint Thein Htay, carried out the COVID-19 education programmes at the village administration office along with other officials on that day. At around 6:30 pm, two terrorists riding motorcycles arrived there and fatally shot him with a pistol and ran away.
The victim was then taken to Kyaukse People’s Hospital and died of gunshot wounds at about 8 pm.
The security members are investigating in cooperation with locals to arrest the suspects who made destructive acts in the COVID-19 preventive measures. — MNA
