Nyaungchaungtha Beach located in Yankin Sanyar Village, Nyaungdon Township, Ayeyawady Region, attracts local and foreign visitors.
The beach, 34 miles from Yangon, is near the confluence of the Ayeyawady River and Panhlaing River.
“We can take relaxation at the beach by enjoying fresh air and tasting hygienic foods,” said a picnicker from Mandalay.
People from Nyaungdon Township and around Yangon City relaxed at the beach during the Maha Thingyan festival period.
“We take a rest at the beach free from pressures of works,” said a visitor. “I think breathing fresh air will contribute towards our health.” “Visitors enjoyed this year’s water festival at the beach, in larger numbers than previous years,” a floating hotel owner told media.
About 500 people regularly visit the beach daily, according to local residents.
