Volunteers, CSOs in Sagaing, Mandalay honoured for COVID-19 works

The National Volunteers Steering Committee presented honourary certificates, badges, face masks and hand sanitizers to the volunteers and civil service organizations in Sagaing and Mandalay regions yesterday for their services in measures against COVID-19.
Pregnant women and the children under age five who are staying under quarantine also received cash assistance in Monywa Township.
Union Minister for Social Welfare Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye, in his capacity as the secretary of committee, Sagaing Region Chief Minister Dr Myint Naing, the Minister of Social Affairs of Mandalay Region government, the director-general and the deputy director-general of the Social Welfare Department and officials from the General Administration Department and Public Health and Medical Services attended the donation ceremonies.
The Union Minister and party first visited the quarantine centres at Nandawun Staff Housing and Dawna Compound in Monywa Township, where they presented honourary certificates for the volunteers and CSOs through the Sagaing Chief Minister, as well as badges, face masks and hand sanitizers to the representatives of CSOs.
The Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement also gave K30,000 each for 35 pregnant women, 30 children under age five and two elderly persons over age 60.
The Union Minister and party arrived at the quarantine centre temporarily established in Mandalay Sangha hospital, where they provided honourary certificates for volunteers and CSOs through the Social Affairs Minister of Mandalay Region government, and volunteer badges, face masks and hand sanitizers through the representatives of CSOs.
The ministry also gave K30,000 each to 72 pregnant women, 76 children under age five and 16 elderly persons over age 60 there.
The honourary certificates of National Volunteers Steering Committee will be presented to 4,541 volunteers and 286 CSOs in Sagaing Region and 5,494 volunteers and 511 CSOs in Mandalay Region through the General Administrative departments of respective regions and township volunteering supporting committees. More certificates will also be given to the remaining groups after collecting the lists.—MNA(Translated by Aung Khin)
