Vulnerable groups, including the persons with disabilities, prioritized vaccination of COVID-19 starting from September 2021, says Vice-Senior General

A national committee and a working committee were formed for effectively implementing the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Law 2015 and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules 2017 in Myanmar by adopting the decisions at their meetings to fulfil the education, employment, healthcare, social and legal needs of the persons with disabilities in the projects and work procedures, said Chairman of National Committee for Rights of Persons with Disabilities Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win.
Myanmar has been annually holding the ceremony to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 28 times as of 1994. Myanmar signed the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on 7 December 2011.
Being a member of the convention, Myanmar is striving for fulfilling the requirements of the persons with disabilities based on justice, advantages and ability to keep abreast of other persons in the society.
The State Administration Council provided K30,000 each to the persons with disabilities not to be left in healthcare but provided humanitarian aid under the UN 2030 programme while the people are facing the COVID-19. A national committee and a working committee were formed for effectively implementing the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Law, 2015 and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules 2017 in Myanmar with adopting the decisions at their meetings to fulfil the education, employment, healthcare, social and legal needs of the persons with disabilities in the projects and work procedures.
Depending on the experiences of the persons with disabilities in the COVID-19 crisis, the project of the sustainable development goals including the persons with disabilities for 2030 will be implemented and placed under assessment.
The Vice-Senior General urged all to join hands with the organizations implementing the issues of the persons with disabilities for shaping the better future of the world.
Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine spoke words of honour. Then, winners in the competitions to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities were announced.
The Vice-Senior General viewed the books and documentary photos related to persons with disabilities. —MNA
