State Administration Council Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing addresses the second-day session of the Myanmar War Veterans Organization Conference 2021 in Nay Pyi Taw on 26 November 2021.

The Tatmadaw is striving for ethnic armed organizations to totally reach the path of peace and building a political system, we all unitedly aspire, with goodwill, said Patron of Myanmar War Veterans Organization Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at the second-day session of MWVO Conference 2021 at the headquarters of the MWVO in Dekkhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area yesterday morning.
In his speech, the Senior General said the Myanmar War Veterans Organization was formed with the aim of participating in the tasks of Our Three Main National Causes and socio-economic development of the ethnic people, serving as the reserve force of the Tatmadaw in national defence and security measures, helping war veteran members each other in unison and joining in the State welfare tasks.
The MWVO is constituted of region and state war veterans’ organizations and township level organizations. Those war veterans had served the duties assigned by the State for the nation and the people with the sacrifice of life and limb. As the organization is formed with those who served as disciplined Tatmadaw members, it is a reliable one for the State and the Tatmadaw.
The Tatmadaw which emerged in the demand of the history in the independence struggle is a single patriotic Tatmadaw. The emergence of the Burma Independence Army (BIA) led by General Aung San together with 30 comrades was to open the independence door of Myanmar.
Hence, the current Tatmadaw took the lessons from the weakness in the past of Myanmar history and is shaping a modern patriotic, powerful capable Tatmadaw. In so doing war veterans from the organization since their establishment have been serving the assigned duties under the leadership of the Tatmadaw.
Nowadays, the Tatmadaw took the State responsibilities in time by politically declaring the state of emergency due to the fact that those who forcibly grasped the State power with committing voting frauds in the 2020 multiparty democracy general election. During the period, the Tatmadaw is implementing the Five-Point Road Map step by step.
Turning a blind eye to the realities of the Tatmadaw taking the responsibilities under the Constitution, local and external saboteurs commit instigations to wedge the Tatmadaw and the people and incitement to break the country up with the weakness of the Tatmadaw. Hence, it is necessary to fight against them under the law.
At present, the war veterans’ organization which is the reserve force of the Tatmadaw are conscientiously serving the national defence and security measures of the country. It can be seen that some persons with different attitudes in some areas commit incitements to hate the Tatmadaw and terror attacks on the retired Tatmadaw members. It is necessary to prevent these acts under security awareness and conscience and public cooperation. The Senior General expressed his acknowledgement and condolences for the death and injuries of war veterans in the events of terrorist attacks.
The reserve force law was enacted for a military servant enjoying the rights of resignation from the military service term or retirement to join the reserve force. If necessary, arrangements will be made for exercising these laws.
War veterans need to cooperate with relevant township level organizations, social organizations and the people in carrying out the practical organizational tasks. They have to participate in the nation-building tasks with the spirit of Once a Soldier, Always a Soldier.
The Tatmadaw is providing aid to the Tatmadaw members who lost limbs in discharging the State and the Tatmadaw duties and families of the Tatmadaw members who sacrificed their lives. Retired Tatmadaw members and families are settled at Karuna Gabar Home for the Aged and advanced housings for war veterans in regions and states. More buildings are underway. After retirement, the Tatmadaw members who lost their limbs in discharging the State and the Tatmadaw duties are under training at the Tatmadaw vocational training schools. Emphasis is being placed on the education of the families of the Tatmadaw members as well as enhance of educational qualification of the Tatmadaw members. National reconciliation is essential for the peace and stability of the country. The Tatmadaw is striving for ethnic armed organizations to totally reach the path of peace and building a political system, we all unitedly aspire, with goodwill.
The Tatmadaw free from impunities is serving the national political duty deemed to the State demand. War veterans need to make utmost efforts to successfully implement five sectors and seven future tasks. They have to uphold the Our Three Main National Causes and firmly stand as a reserve force of the Tatmadaw in national defence and security measures.
Chairman of Myanmar War Veterans Central Executive Committee Lt-Gen Sein Win (Retd) presented cash assistance for disabled war veterans, offspring of war veterans and offspring of war veterans learning at defence services academies.
Then, the Senior General cordially greeted the war veterans after posing for documentary photos with Myanmar War Veterans Central Executive Committee members. — MNA
