Konbaung royal families’ Waso Robe donation ceremony on 17 August

The Waso robe donation ceremony of the relatives of the Konbaung Dynasty will be held at the Shwekyin Monastery in Bahan Township, in the religious compound donated by King Mindon, on 17 August.
It will be funded by the Lai-Hka Queen’s house and the Pyinsi Suphaya house to hold robe-offering events together with royal families.
“Actually, this ceremony is funded by two royal houses — Lai-Hka Queen’s house and Pyinsi Suphaya house. Then, the rest of the relatives donate money. As we don’t accept cash, they donate in kinds such as robes or meals. As we combine them, it happens to be a Waso robe donation ceremony of the royal families,” said Htake Tin Sithu Hein (Pyinsi Suphaya house).
In commemoration of late kings, queens, their sons, daughters, relatives, nobles, ministers, Saophas, town and village heads, generals of the Konbaung Kingdom, and ancestors such as great-grandma Myin Hmu Tin Tin Kyi, Nyaung Oak Htake Tin Si, Myo Kyi Htake Tin San, Thonezel Htake Tin Kyi, and Myingun U Maung, with the unique attribute to King Mindon, Lai-Hka Queen, Prince Nyaungyan, Prince Nyaungoak, King Thibaw, and Pyinsi Princess Suphaya, and all parents and grandparents from both sides, the ceremony will be held, led by Nyaungyan Htake Tin Htay.
“This year, we initiated a fund to hold it as a family donation. It will start at 9 am on Saturday,” said Htake Tin Sithu Hein. — Thit Taw/ZS
