The World Food Programme donated laboratory equipment for the Ministry of Health and Sports at the headquarters of Medical Research Department in Dagon Township, Yangon yesterday to help Myanmar fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
At the event, Director-General of the Medical Research Department Prof Dr Zaw Than Tun expressed thanks to WFP for the donation.
WFP Myanmar Representative Mr Stephen Anderson and Myanmar Humanitarian Fund’s Manager Mr Narciso Rosa-Berlanga explained the purpose of the donation.
The WFP Myanmar Representative handed over 4 Cobas Liat machines and 4,000 test kits worth US$0.26 million to Prof Dr Zaw Than Tun who returned the certificate of honour. The lab equipment that was purchased from Roche, a Swiss multinational healthcare company, and installed Cobas Liat System can test for COVID-19 within 20 minutes. — Zaw Gyi (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
