WFP donates PPE sets for Yangon Region

World Food Programme donated over 110 million kyats worth of personal protective equipment sets to the Yangon Region government for the COVID-19 response programmes in Yangon on 8 October.
The WFP donated the personal protective equipment sets with EU funding to be used by health workers and volunteers involved in the fight against COVID-19 disease.
The officials from the WFP handed over the donation and Social Affair Minister for the Yangon Region government U Naing Ngan Lin received the donation.
WFP Deputy Country Director Mr Walid Ibrahim said, “We can all be healthy if the health workers and volunteers are safe. They are constantly facing the growing COVID-19 outbreak in Yangon. We hope that the donated PPE sets will help them to win and end this battle.” Similarly, WFP donated 20 million Kyats worth of personal protective equipment sets and disinfection equipment to Phaunggyi COVID-19 Medical Centre in Yangon Region on 20 September.
WFP is also providing rice and food at quarantine centres in 11 regions and states. —Zaw Gyi (Translated by Ei Phyu Phyu Aung)
