He called on the member countries to work together in the resumption of tourism. He said the guidelines in the paper will support crisis management in tourist destinations and will build a resilient tourism industry in reviving the tourism sector. He also added that the UNWTO has plans to hold both online and offline training courses and workshops on the implementation of the paper in 2022.
Vice-Chairman of the International Affairs at Amarante International Mr Didier Ranchon explained the white paper and discussed practical information. Afterwards, the participants asked questions and the Regional Director of the UNWTO for Africa concluded.
The UNWTO and international experts conducted field surveys in countries such as Africa, Morocco, Mauritius, Mexico, the Philippines, Portugal, Senegal, Sri Lanka and Tunisia for the paper, and guidelines were set for addressing tourism safety issues for member countries of the UNWTO and to assist in the formation of disaster prevention plans in the government and private sectors.
In the afternoon, the Union minister met officials from State guesthouses and hotels at Park Royal Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw. During the meeting, he spoke about the spread of the Omicron COVID-19 variant across the world including in neighbouring countries and the need for staff in the tourism industry to comply with the set prevention guidelines individually. He also said that it is necessary for the hotels which will receive guests who come and stay for Mini-Gems Emporium 2021 to strictly follow the COVID-19 rules and regulations set by the Ministry of Health, and he urged hotels to focus on applying for COVID-19 national certificates for safe services.—MNA
